Amazing rock pools.

Soft sandstone formations are worn away by rocks and sea anemones to create these deep pools.

This one has giant sea anemones in it.

Very unusual looking formations.

Plenty to see.

Huge fossils are protected.

Botanical beach

Stunted trees on the high rocks above Botany beach near Port Renfrew on the South West coast of Vancouver Island.

Twisted trees between Botany Bay and Botanical Bay.

Raccoon?

Squirrel?

Sand art

Calum and Zoe celebrate after completing the sand flower while Ruth is out fishing with Peter and Brendon.

Port Renfrew

The campsite was next to this long beach.

The view is out onto the Juan De Fuca straight with the United States in the background.

Heading out at the crack of dawn in search of salmon.

The coast was stunning.

I managed to wrestle this 8lb salmon out of the sea. I also caught a rock cod and a red snapper. Peter managed to get a 10lb salmon too. I was very sea sick and was grateful to get back so Ruth could get out for a go.

Ruth caught her first ever fish. This is her 5lb salmon.

This is the stretch we fished on.

Cowichan museum

We stopped at the museum for a break en-route to Port Renfrew.

Wild art

This mural is on the local school.

The school grounds is where we launched our rocket! Our third flight was a disaster though as the wind caught the rocket and took it way off into a neighbourhood with lots of trees. The kids made a poster and we delivered it to most of the houses but still no rocket.

Maple Bay

Our nearest beach is only 10 minutes away. Warm seas make it a great place to swim and cool down.

Zoe comes down with a classic case of Beachitis.

Posing in his new shorts!

Giant snail found on beach.

Sand castles with a difference!

The water parks are great in the summer heat.

Enjoying a treat on the way home from work.
